Thelma Lavonna Scariot

Thelma Lavonna Scariot, 93, formerly of Joffre, passed away peacefully on Monday evening July 28, 2025 in her daughter’s Burgettstown home where she has resided for the past 13 years.

She was born on October 10, 1931 a daughter of the late Willis and Lavonna Campbell  Armagost.

Mrs. Scariot was a home maker and proud to be a Nanny for several local children.

Her husband Peter Scariot, Sr. passed away in 1985.

Surviving are her three children Pete Scariot and wife Donna of Pymatuning, Vonnie Mroczkowski and husband Mike of Burgettstown and Michael Scariot and wife Mary of Langeloth; ten adored grandchildren Zach (Monica), Dane (Kelsey), Scott (Amy) Scariot, Kerry Blake (Jerry), Bradley Scariot (Angela), Aaron, Rebekah and Adam Mroczkowski, Jesse Prager (Jason) and Julie Scariot (Tim Patrick); 17 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to her parents and husband is her son Willis Scariot and his wife Verne; brothers Robert Armagost (surviving wife Florence of Alabama) and William Armagost and his wives Sandy and Betty; sisters Marcie Sprague and husband Barney and Althea Stein and husband William; and her longtime companion after her husband’s passing Ray Hall.

Family and friends will be received from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday August 1, 2025 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021 where a service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday August 2, 2025.
