Shelley Ann Wehrer

Shelley Ann Wehrer, 78, of Burgettstown; Cross Creek Twp., passed away after a brief illness on Monday September 18, 2023 in UPMC Shadyside Hospital.

She was born on June 23, 1945 a daughter of the late Eugene and Ruth Havelka Petricca.

A 1963 graduate of the Union High School in Burgettstown, she also earned a bachelor's degree in Education from West Liberty State College.

Mrs. Wehrer worked as a teacher before founding Wehrer Enterprises which she and her husband owned and operated together while always being dedicated to her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ronald C. Wehrer, who she met while students at West Liberty College and married on March 9, 1968 in Cross Creek Presbyterian Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her three children Jill A. Gribbin of Greensburg, Greg Wehrer and wife Kelly of Houston, TX and Erin B. Wehrer of Cross Creek; 7 grandchildren Rachel Gribbin and fiancé Dr. Josh Salyers, M.D., Beau Gribbin, Austin Gribbin and fiancé Erin Ward, Ellis and Silvia Wehrer, Trevor Abate and Haley Russell; a great granddaughter Kinsley Abate; four brothers David Petricca (the late Charlotte), James Petricca and wife Sonya, Daniel Petricca and wife Tracey, and Joseph Petricca and wife Joyce; two sisters Marjorie Steiminger and husband Joseph,  Jean Watson and husband Jay; and several nieces and nephews.

To honor Mrs. Wehrer’s wishes, services and interment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville were held privately under the direction of Slater Funeral & Cremation Services of Burgettstown, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021.
