Sharen “Sheri” Eileen Strope Esno, 78, of Burgettstown, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by love on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

She was born on October 1, 1946 in Steubenville, OH a daughter of the late Harold A. and Mary Merman Strope of Eldersville.

A 1964 of the Union High School in Burgettstown, she worked for Brockway Glass in Washington, the GC Murphy Company in Burgettstown and retired from Weirton Steel.

Sheri loved working in her flower beds, gardening, canning, singing, music and watching the Steelers. Her biggest joy was her family, who she enjoyed spending time with, taking frequent trips to the Outer Banks, NC, and spoiling her grandchildren.

Sheri, along with her brothers and sisters and some other choir members, performed programs for various organizations in the Tri-State area and the group appeared on Channel 9’s “Neapolitan Serenade.” She is remembered most for her role as Clem Kadiddlehopper… ‘better than Red Skelton’, some say.

Surviving are her loving husband of 57 years, Stanley ‘Stush’ P. Esno whom she married on March 15, 1968, daughters: Stacie (Peter) L. Brown, of Cross Creek, PA and Sonia (Frank) J. Bertovich of Burgettstown, PA; son: Stanley P. Esno II of Burgettstown, PA; 6 grandchildren Morgan R. Esno, Randie Moreau, Adam J. Brown, Tyler T. Brown, Piper J. Bertovich, Nicholas S. Bertovich, Stanley P. Esno III; 2 great grandchildren Akira Marcy Lynn Esno and Ava Marie; brothers Merle (Michela ‘Micki’) Strope of Sugar Grove, OH, Thomas (Judy) Strope of Eldersville, PA and Gerald ‘Pete’ (Jackie) Strope of Eldersville, PA; her sister Janet "Sis" (Wayne) Jeffrey, Eldersville, PA; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, deceased are her sisters Virginia ‘Gini’ (Thomas) Cunningham of New Cumberland, WV and Brenda (surviving husband Robert “Bob”) Smitsky of Eldersville, PA; a brother Harold ‘Thump’ (surviving wifeNancy) Strope of Wellsburg WV) and a grandchild Justin T. Brown, son of Stacie and Peter Brown.

Family and friends will be received from 12:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday September 27, 2025 where a service concluding visitation will he held at 4:00 p.m. in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021. Immediately concluding the visitation and service on Saturday, a dinner and continuation of fellowship will follow at the Knights of Columbus Pavilion, 2086 Smith Twp. State Rd., Burgettstown.

She will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. on her birthday, October 1, 2025 in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, PA 15017.
