Richard E. “Ace” Delprato, a proud lifelong resident of Cherry Valley, passed away on Saturday August 2, 2025 at Concordia Hospice of Washington’s Donnell House.

He was born August 16, 1940 in Cherry Valley, a son of the late John and Helen Obozek Delprato. “Ace” was a drafted by the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. After his military duty, he worked as an electrician for the Climax Molybdenum Company in Langeloth, PA until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet (Scott) Delprato who he married on June 6, 1964, and his two sons Richard J. Delprato (Tish) and Michael Delprato (Lorrie Schindler). Also surviving are three grandchildren, Richard G “Ricky” Delprato, Lyndsie (Ryan) Coup, and Sydney (Mark) Sullivan; his brother Art (Becky) Delprato, sisters-in-law Maryann Delprato, Nila Scott, and brother-in-law Ralph Scott.

Deceased in addition to his parents are his brother John Delprato, sister-in-law Barbara Scott, and brother-in-law, Wayne Scott.

“Ace” dedicated his life to the Cherry Valley Sportsmen Association holding many titles from President to Secretary / Treasurer. He also had a 1954 Ford pick-up truck that he rebuilt and restored for which he took to all car cruises.

“Ace” alone with his brother, Art, built a vacation cottage at the Youghiogheny River Lake and spent several years boating, fishing, and water skiing.

Friends will be received from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Slater Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021 where a blessing service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday August 6, with the Rev. Harry Bielewicz of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Florence.

Friends and family are invited to a luncheon following the services at the Cherry Valley Sportsmen Association.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are made in Rich’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to The Cherry Valley Sportsmen Association, 423 Joffre Cherry Valley Road, Burgettstown, PA 15021.
