Newton M. Culley, 80, of Burgettstown, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, March 23, 2024 in his home.He was born on May 18, 1943 a son of the late George and Effie Kunkle Culley of Midway. After graduating from Fort Cherry High School, he enlisted in the United States Army serving from 1962-1966 in Germany where he met his wife. He was honorably discharged a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and a M-14 Rifle Marksman
For nearly 50 years he worked as a subcontractor for Ryan Homes before working in the construction department for WalMart in Washington for 13 years before retiring in February of 2023.
His beloved wife, Ursula M. Daschke Culley who he met while stationed in Germany with the Army and married on March 18, 1966, passed away on July 27, 2006. He and Ursula moved to Burgettstown in 1972 where they raised their family.
Newt is survived by his two children Michele M.K. Garren and Christopher M. Culley; his two granddaughters Katarina and Helena Garren; a sister Diane Stone; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, deceased are his sisters Jane Makrush and Georgetta "Sis" Romestan; and two brothers; Ted and Dane Culley.
Family and friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. until the time of a Catholic Blessing Service officiated by Fr. Harry Bielewicz at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 27, 2024 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. of Burgettstown, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021. He will be interred with military honors beside his wife in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery at a later date.
