Michael A. Borsos, Jr. ,81, of Berkeley Heights, NJ passed away at home on March 13, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Washington, Pa., Mr. Borsos lived in Berkeley Heights most of his life.
Mr. Borsos was a member of the Berkeley Heights Police Department for many years before retiring as Captain in 1994. During his career at the police department, he held many positions and attended many police-related courses to better be able to serve the public. He ran the control center overseeing all the activities regarding the Gollub Explosion.
A volunteer with Berkeley Heights Volunteer Fire Department for many years, he was the recipient of many proclamations and resolutions of acknowledgments over the years for going over and beyond and unselfishly giving for the betterment of the community.
A member and delegate of PBA Local 144, Mike loved serving his community as evidenced by his dedication to his police work and service with the Volunteer Fire Department. He would help many who were applying for Police positions by having them in his home, where he would coach their studying. He also worked very hard on the committee to assure retirees and their spouses received continued benefits upon retirement.
He proudly served in the Air Force during the Vietnam Era before being Honorably Discharged in June of 1966.
No matter what Mike did, he gave 100% of himself. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and loved to take his sons to the stock car races. He loved life and all those he came in contact with.
The beloved husband of Mary E. (nee Lombardi), he was the loving father of Michael Glen Borsos and the late Richard Alan Borsos; loving brother of Brian D. Borsos, and the late Gary S. Borsos and the late Sandy Borsos Welshams, and cherished grandfather of Katelyn M. Borsos, Lauren E. Borsos, Daniel J. Borsos and Ashley R. Falzarano.
Family and friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday March 21, 2024 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc of Burgettstown, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.In lieu of flowers donations in Michael’s name can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
