Melinda Acord

Melinda Acord, 54, of Burgettstown; Hanover Twp., passed away on Saturday afternoon December 16, 2023 in Allegheny General Hospital.

She was born on February 19, 1969 in Oceana, WV a daughter of Freda Hubbard Clayton, her lifelong caregiver with whom she made her home with in Burgettstown and the late Kennie Acord.

A graduate of the Canton McKinley High School in Canton, OH, Melinda was a happy person and always smiling despite her disability. She enjoyed country music- especially going to concerts and collecting mememorabiliamorbelia of her favorite artists. She also enjoyed camping at Ponderosa Park in Salem, OH, vacationing at the beach and loved Bingo.

She attended and was baptized in the Victory Life Church in Hanover Twp., and was adopted into the Alleghenny Nation Indian Tribe in a traditional ceremony as “Little Big Heart” on July 2, 2005.

Surviving is addition to her loving mother is her step father Lee Robert Clayton of Burgettstown; her sister Angela Dawn Lewis and husband Nick of Canton, OH; nieces and nephews Mykala, Isaac and Keaton Lewis; her maternal grandmother Lillian Hubbard of Weirton, WV; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Deceased in addition to her father is a brother Kennie “Pee Wee” Acord; maternal grandfather Leonard Gene Hubbard; grandmother Dalilah Reed and her husband Herbert Lee Reed; grandfather Kennie Henderson Acord.

A Service Celebrating her life is being planned and for a future date in Oceana, WV followed by followed by burial in Matheny Memorial Garden in West Virginia.
