Mary Jean "Jeannie" Rodgers, 70, of Cherry Valley, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday afternoon, March 17, 2026 in UPMC Washington Hospital.
She was born on January 22, 1956 in Pittsburgh a daughter of the late Emile E. "Harp" and Mary V. "Jum" Russell Kowalski. A 1974 graduate of the Union High School in Burgettstown, Jeannie worked for J&L Steel, Billy Boys Pizza, Petrucci's Shop n Save and retired from ITT Trucking.
She enjoyed camping with her husband, family and friends. She truly loved cooking for Sunday dinners and family get togethers, teaching her grandkids how to bake for each holiday, and swimming all summer in her pool.
She enjoyed Saturday morning coffee with her son Nathan, and daily face time with Jon-David and his twins, Owen and Willow.
Her daughter Shannon was her best friend with her sisters Darras and Erin. She had a very special bond with her sister-in-law Donna “Bo” Wasik who was like a sister.
On June 16, 1979 she married her husband of 47 years David K. Rodgers who survives. Surviving in addition to her husband are her three loving children Nathan Rodgers of Burgettstown, Shannon Reddinger and husband Fred of Burgettstown and Jon-David Rodgers and wife Monica of Weirton, WV; six beloved grandchildren who she was known as "Me'Me'" to Camryn, Harper, Brystol and Colt Reddinger and twins Owen and Willow Rodgers; brothers and sisters Dan Kowalski and wife Jackie of Texas, Blase Kowalski and wife Julie of Bulger, Michael Kowalski and wife Connie of Pittsburgh, Erin McKee and husband Michael of Burgettstown and Darras Pallaria and husband Gregg of Canonsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents are a brother Kermit Kowalski (surviving wife Nancy) and a sister Ariel Toth.
Family and friends will be received from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday March 22, 2026 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021 where a Blessing Service officiated by Fr. Harry Bielewicz will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday March 23, 2026.Because she enjoyed taking her grandson Colt to story hour every week, memorial donations are suggested in her memory to the Burgettstown Community Library, 2 Kerr Street, Burgettstown, PA 15021.
