Julian Eugene Puryear, 74, of Langeloth, passed away on Saturday March 2, 2024 in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.He was born on May 27, 1949 a son of the late Julian Augustus and Lilly Grace Meeks Puryear.
A Veteran of the United States Army, he served from September 1968 to January 1972 in Vietnam as an SP4. After being honorably discharged a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal he continued his dedication to our country in the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring after serving in the military for 25 years.
Julian worked as a truck driver for Greif Brothers and Giant Eagle.
He was a member of the Burgettstown AmericanLegion and was currently serving as the commander of the Atlasburg V.F.W. where he was very active in supporting the Wounded Warrior Project.
His beloved wife Sheryl Ann Adamson Puryear who he married on July 17, 1976 passed away on March 6, 2013.
Surviving is his daughter Jennifer Lynn Ziegler and husband Fred of Hookstown; his grandson Jacob Ziegler; a brother Jerry Puryear and wife Robyn of Texas; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Deceased in addition to his parents and wife are his sisters Keren Resendez and her husband Steve and Rhonda Moreno; and brothers Melvin Puryear and his wife Lola and James Puryear.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday March 7, 2024 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. of Burgettstown, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021 where Departing Prayers will begin at 9:45 a.m. on Friday March 8, 2024 followed by services with full military honors at 11:00 a.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
