John J. Spiotta, 89, of Burgettstown; Hanover Twp., passed away on Thursday January 1, 2026 in WVU Weirton Medical Center.
He was born on February 27, 1936 in Slovan a son of the late Lorenzo Giuseppe and Anna DeSantis Spiotta.
A graduate of the Union High School in Burgettstown, he retired from J&L Steel where he was a crane operator. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers and was a CB Radio Operator.
He is survived by his son John F. Spiotta of TX; grandchildren Thomas W. Goldsboro of Houston, PA, Michelle Thomas of Houston, PA, Kelli Spiotta-Givens and Laura Spiotta-Kirkpatrick both of SC; great grandchildren Ava Thomas, Liam Thomas and Alexis Goldsboro; son-in-law Thomas A. Goldsboro; a brother Robert Spiotta of Pittsburgh and his longtime friend Mary Ann Perko of Burgettstown.
Deceased in addition to his parents are his wife Joan Maltony Spiotta; his daughter Judy Spiotta Goldsboro and a brother Geno Spiotta.
Family and friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 6, 2026 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. of Burgettstown, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021. He will be laid to rest in the Grandview Cemetery, Florence.
