John A. “Pertsy” Gobleck, 81, of Joffre, passed away on Monday April 29, 2024 in Select Medical Hospital, Weirton.
He was born on June 7, 1942 in Joffre a son of the late Peter and Mary Bernola Gobleck.
A 1960 graduate of the Union High School in Burgettstown, he worked as a foreman for Climax Molybdenum in Langeloth before moving to Cleveland, OH from 1986-2012 where he worked for National Car Mart. After retiring and returning to Joffre he was proud to drive truck and help his grandsons at Reynold’s Bros. Rock in Burgettstown.
An avid golfer, he also enjoyed getting the meats ready for his family’s yearly reunions, calling BINGO, going to the casino and dancing the Jitterbug to oldies music.
He was a member of the Burgettstown Italian Club where he was the captain of his bocci team for many years, the Slovenian Club, Cherry Valley Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed going to the Burgettstown Area Senior Citizens Center.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 64 years, Marlene A. Porchiran Gobleck who he married on April 9, 1960; four children Monica Reynolds and husband John of Cherry Valley, Mickey Gobleck and wife Dayna of Burgettstown, Chris Gobleck and wife Dottie of Joffre and John B. Gobleck of Joffre; grandchildren Matthew Reynolds (Summer), Bryan Reynolds (Courtney), Ross Reynolds (Cassie), Anthony Gobleck (Lauren), Andrew Gobleck (Katlyn), Ayla Gobleck, Alyssa Gobleck (fiancé Dalton Green), Krista Gobleck and Kevin Gobleck (Kristen); great grandchildren Leland, Samuel, Gus, Jacob, Josie, Maddie, Parker, Avie, Miles, Charlotte, Peter, Sam, Gianna, and his 14th great grandchild being born in June; 2 brothers Julian “Jay” Gobleck (Theresa) of FL and Robbie Gobleck (Brenna) of New Mexico; a sister JoAnn Jablonsky (the late George) of Joffre; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday May 10, 2024 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services of Burgettstown, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021 followed by refreshments and a celebration of his life at the Cherry Valley Sportsman’s Association, 423 Joffre Cherry Valley Road in Burgettstown.
