Joann Porchiran Testa

Joann Porchiran Testa, 78, of Burgettstown, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday morning December 23, 2024 with her loving family by her side.

She was born on April 27, 1946 a daughter of the late Michael and Pauline (Pescho) Porchiran.

A 1964 graduate of the Union High School in Burgettstown, she worked as a teller for Mellon Bank in Burgettstown and Canonsburg and as a receptionist for Cornerstone Dental in Atlasburg.

Mrs. Testa was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Burgettstown and enjoyed watching hockey and the Steelers (even though she grew to love the Chief’s Patrick Mahomes), BINGO, sitting on her back porch with her neighbors and babysitting her granddoggie Max.

On June 11, 1966 she married Thomas J. Testa who passed away with their son Theodore “Teddy” Joseph Testa on January 31, 1992. 

She is survived by her loving daughter Kristi Testa Pavan and husband Gregg of Burgettstown and her three granddaughters whom along with her close friends affectionately called her “Gra”, Taylor Pavan-McHugh and husband Mark, Molly Pavan and Tomi Pavan; her great granddaughter Natalie Jo McHugh who she welcomed into the world on June 28, 2024; sister-in-law Judy Lounder of Burgettstown; and several nieces and nephews.

After the tragic death of her husband and son, Joann was fortunate to have her loving companion of 30 years, Kenneth Francis Abate, Sr. until his passing on June 1, 2022. She is also survived by his son Dominic Abate, Jr. and his wife Melissa.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, husband and son by her sisters Dolores Moore and husband Jim; and Marlene Gobleck and husband Pertsy; and her brother-in-law Richard Lounder.

Family and friends will be received from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday December 27, 2024 and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Departing Prayers at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday December 28, 2024 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. (formerly Lee & Martin Funeral Home) 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, Pa 15021 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. Harry Belewicz at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish, 1109 Main Street in Burgettstown. She will be laid to rest in the Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
