Jean Gilbert Castellino

Jean Gilbert Pappas Castellino, 99, of Burgettstown, passed away at The Wyngate Senior Living Community, Weirton, WV where she had been a resident the past year.

She was born on March 8, 1926 in Joffre, PA a daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Christy Gilbert.

After graduating from Union High School in 1944, Jean worked at American Zinc as a switchboard operator in Langeloth, PA. After raising four children, Jean attended Penn Commercial School in Washington, PA before working as a secretary at Burgettstown Area High School for nine years. Along with her husband, Bill, she then became office manager at Bill’s Tire Center in Burgettstown, PA.

Jean was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Burgettstown and a past member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Her husband, Michael William “Bill” Castellino passed away on November 28, 2012.

Jean is survived by her children Charles Pappas, Jr. of Burgettstown; Tim Pappas of Atlanta, GA, and Leslie Miller and husband Charles of Apopka, FL, Dan Pappas of Burgettstown, Bill Castellino and husband Stephen Abbey of Miller Place, NY and Tom Castellino and wife Cheryl of Wallace, NC; grandchildren Lauren Hooper and husband Ryan, Erika Wilson and husband Matthew, Anthony Pappas and wife Kearsten, Lilliana Pappas and her mother Regina, Ronald Kotouch, husband of the late Marissa Pappas Kotouch, Bryan Castellino and wife Amanda and Brad Castellino and wife Jamie; great grandchildren Liam, Colin, Declan and Cate Kotouch, Emilia Jean Hooper, Asher and Arlo Wilson, Zakkary Pappas, Sgt. 1st Class Alexzander Pappas, USMC, Kristopher and Jakkob Pappas, William and Nolan Castellino, Hannah and Charlie Castellino,

Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are her brother Robert Gilbert (surviving wife Loretta) daughter-in-law Michele Pappas; granddaughter Marissa Pappas Kotouch (surviving husband Ronald); an infant great grandson Nathan Pappas and her first husband Charles Pappas, Sr.

Family and friends will be received from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday December 8, 2025 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Richard J. Tusky at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday December 9, 2025 in Our Lady of Lourdes Church of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish, 1109 Main Street, Burgettstown, PA 15021 with burial to follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
