Joseph F. “Snuffy” Toth, 87, of Harmon Creek in Burgettstown, passed away on Sunday morning August 4, 2024 in TownView Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg where he and his wife have resided for the past two years. 

He was born on February 3, 1937, in Cherry Valley, as a son to the departed Joseph “Abe” and Wilma Krepps Toth. He graduated from Union High School in Burgettstown and served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. 

Snuffy later retired from J&L Steel in Aliquippa before working as a groundskeeper at the Village Green Golf Course. Snuffy was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3440, an active member of the Slovan VFW and their Honor Guard, and a lifetime member of the Burgettstown Volunteer Fire Department. He took pleasure in golf, hunting, attending car races, ice cream, sharing coffee and conversations at McDonald's with friends, and was an avid supporter of Burgettstown Blue Devil’s sports teams. 

His wife of 60 years, Joanne M. Chastulik Toth survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by his two daughters Monica J. Toth-Nicholson and husband Mike of Pittsburgh and Andrea L. Tagliaferro and husband Mark of Burgettstown; his grandsons who enjoyed more than anything Anthony Tagliaferro and wife Ally and Matthew Tagliaferro. He is also survived by his sisters Peggy Hartlep, Donna Koscelanky, Linda Strupek and several nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends will be received from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 7, 2024 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021 where a Blessing Service officiated by Fr. Harry Bielewicz, Pastor of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday August 8. Interment with full military honors accorded by the United States Army and the Slovan VFW Honor Guard at 1:30 p.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
Memorial Donations may be made in Mr. Toth’s memory to Burgettstown Area School District Athletics, 100 Bavington Rd, Burgettstown, PA 15021.
