James Charles Ervin, Sr., 81, of Hickory, passed away on Wednesday morning January 26, 2022 in his home.
He was born on June 8, 1940 in Pittsburgh a son of the late Gertrude Diley and Albert Ervin.
Mr. Ervin was a mechanic and was known for working on furnaces not letting anyone be without heat if he could help it.
He is survived by his five children James C. Ervin, Jr. of Steubenville, OH, Debra Chechuck and husband Mike of Hickory, Jeff Ervin of Belle Vernon, Freda May Ervin of Steubenville, OH, and Anjeanette Chechuck and husband Michael of Donora; daughter-in-law Gwen Ervin of Joffre; 22 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson and one on the way; his former wife Freda May Ervin of Steubenville, OH; three sisters Milly Allen of Houston, Shirley Hertzler of Houston, and Gloria Pierce and husband John of Burgettstown.
Deceased in addition to his parents is his son William Lee Ervin.
Family and friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Kenn Jacobs officiating on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 in the Lee & Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021. Burial will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Florence.
