Gary Gariglio

Gary Gariglio, 61, of Burgettstown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, December 21, 2022 in The Donnell House, Washington.

He was born on October 9, 1961 a son of the late Benjamin Gariglio, Sr. and Carol Meredith Gariglio Filipponi.

A 1979 graduate of the Burgettstown High School, Gary worked with the Pavan Family at Burgettstown Auto Parts, the Bologna Family at the Pepsi-Cola Roadhouse, the Kriznik Family at Wally’s Auto Services, being a handyman for his good friend Darren Shaffer, The Dougherty Family at Lee & Martin Funeral Home and the Pappas family at Charles Pappas, Jr. Remodeling.

Gary was a member of the Slovan Volunteer Fire Department since January 1988 obtaining life member status in 2008 for 20 years of service. He served as company treasurer from 2001-2014 and was still active by attending monthly company meetings and helping with fundraising events.

He is survived by his loving companion and caregiver Karen Goetz of Slovan and her sons Christian and Derek Goetz (Amanda); Mirabella, Ireland, Sutton, and Leighton who affectionately called him “Pappy Gary”; two brothers Benjamin Gariglio, Jr. and wife Bernadette of Outer Banks, NC and Mark Gariglio of Burgettstown; his sister Cindy Greer and husband Bob of Castle Shannon; brother-in-law Nick Say of OH; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Deceased in addition to his parents is his sister Catherine Say.

Family and friends will be recieved from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 27 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. of BURGETTSTOWN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated  by the Rev. Zachary Galiyas at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday December 28, 2022 in Our Lady of Lourdes Church of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish, 1109 Main Street, Burgettstown,  PA 15021. (We told Gary Mass was starting a few hours earlier to make sure he made it promply at 1:30 p.m.) He will laid to rest in Our Lady of  Lourdes Cemetery.
