Francis “Gene” Taucher

Francis Eugene “Gene” Taucher, 85, of Burgettstown, passed away on Monday evening November 11, 2024.

He was born on August 30, 1939 a son of the late Frank and Margaret O’Hara Taucher.

A 1957 graduate of the Union High School in Burgettstown, he served in the United States Army from 1963-1965. He retired from J&L Steel after 42 years where he worked in the Scheduling Department.

Gene enjoyed golfing, bowling, watching the Steelers play (especially when Myron Cope announced the game); high school football and attending his grandchildren’s sports and activities.

His beloved wife, Virginia Anne Garritano Taucher who he married on June 10, 1964, passed away on February 2, 2014.

He is survived by his two children Tim Taucher and wife Lynn of Georgia, and Michele Ingram and husband Bart of Findlay Twp.; daughter-in-law Anita Cooke Taucher of Florida; grandchildren Maggie Ingram and fiancé Tanner Weaver, Jack and Beck Taucher; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents and wife, is his son Frank Anthony Taucher who passed away on September 27, 2019; and brothers Louis Taucher (Mary), Edwin “Ray” Taucher (Gale); and sisters Katherine Wolfe (Howard) and BeBe McBride (Bob).

Family and friends will be received from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday November 14, 2024 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. Burgettstown, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA where departing prayers will begin at 10:30 a.m. on followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. John Ferguson at 11:00 a.m. on Friday November 15, 2024 in Our Lady of Lourdes Church of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish in Burgettstown. He will be laid to rest with his wife and son in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
