Donald L. Burris, Jr., 63, of Florence, passed away on Friday morning January 27, 2023 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 2, 1959 in Follansbee, WV a son of the late Donald L. Burris, Sr. and Lucille Marshall Burris.
A 1979 graduate of the Burgettstown High School, he worked for Union Electric and the Veterans of Foreign Wars both in Burgettstown.
Born into a gifted musical family, Donnie loved music and spinning records as a DJ for many events in the area. He also enjoyed bowling, darts and playing bocce. As the "only" diehard fan of all the Cleveland sports teams in the area, his loyalty for the Browns, Indians and Cavaliers started when he was a child and he rooted for them his entire life.
He is survived by his loving wife DeEtta Underwood Burris who he married on June 26, 2004; children Christy Smallwood and husband Michael of West Homestead, Dawn Slorp and husband Chris of Burgettstown and Nate Whitaker of Weirton, WV; five grandchildren; his three sisters Carol Cox and husband David of Frankfort Springs, Barbara Craig and husband Donald of Clinton and Linda Harvey and husband Mike of Florence; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his father in 1986 and his mother in 2022 is a brother William Burris.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday January 30 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. BURGETTSTOWN, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021 where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday January 31, 2023 with Pastor Eric Spencer of the Colliers First Church of God officiating. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Florence.
