Denny Lane "Hoss" Lucas

Denny Lane “Hoss” Lucas, 78, of Burgettstown; Cross Creek Twp., passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, January 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.


Denny was born on December 6, 1947, in Cross Creek, son of the late Irvin Austin Lucas and Loretta Mae (Laws) Lucas. He was a 1965 graduate of Avella High School.


Denny married Barbara J. “Bobbie” (Hixon) Lucas on December 24, 1977. They shared 48 wonderful years and three children together.


Throughout his life, Denny was known for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. He retired from LTV Steel after 35 years, followed by an additional 10 years at Sam’s Club. He also held ownership stakes in a restaurant, well drilling service, and meat processing plant.


Denny enjoyed collecting antiques, spending time with friends, and watching Pittsburgh sports teams with his wife. He was a proud founding member of the Raccoon Valley Sportsman Club and was well known for his ability to “witch” residential water wells.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Chris (Clarissa) Lucas, Lisa (Bill) Cole, and Brenda (Dan) Griffith; his five adored grandchildren, Christian Lucas, Hailey and Valerie Cole, Garrett and Brooke Griffith; his sister, Judy Yates; and his twin brother, Danny (Beverly) Lucas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.


Denny was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim Lucas, and brother-in-law Jim Yates.


In accordance with Denny’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services at this time. Final care has been entrusted to Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., of Burgettstown.
