Dennis Lee Sella, 78, of Joffre, passed away on Wednesday April 10, 2024. He was born on May 19, 1945 in Joffre, a son of the late Americo and Arvella G. Durain Sella.
After graduating from The Union High School in Burgettstown in 1963 he was drafted into the United States Army serving as an SP4 in Vietnam from 1965 until being honorably discharged in 1967 a recipient of the Vietnam Service & Campaign Medals, Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Denny worked for J&L Steel in Aliquippa until its closing and retired from Hussey Copper in Leetsdale.
An avid outdoorsman, Denny enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and going to his camp in Jamestown. He was a member of the Racoon and Cherry Valley Sportsmen's Clubs, the Owls Club in Joffre and the Slovan VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Yetsick Sella who he married on August 9, 1991; his children Marybeth Monseau of Hickory, Susan Kubacka of Langeloth, Erika Murray and husband Jim of Burgettstown, Joe Wojtowicz and wife Carrie of Eldersville and Cyndi Wojtowicz of Burgettstown; 10 grandchildren Magan Craig and husband Coleman, Dustin and Paige Kubacka, Olivia Kagle and husband Zachary, Jameson, Gracyn and Emmerson Murray, Ryan Wojtowicz and wife Alisha, Devon Wojtowicz and wife Jill, Darren Warrick and wife Morgan, and Clarissa Warrick; great grandchildren Weston, Carson, Anakin, Daisy and Hunter; his sister Debbie Vraninin (Dave) of Burgettstown; his former wife Gerri Cooke of Cross Creek; and a niece Alison Bennett and her husband Rob and their children Bekah and Colton.
Family and friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. until the time of a Catholic Blessing Service officiated by the Rev. Harry Bielewicz at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday April 13, 2024 in Slater Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. of Burgettstown, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, PA 15021, followed by a luncheon and continuation of fellowship at the social hall of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Burgettstown.
Interment with full military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday April 16, 2024 in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, PA 15017.
